I packed up and moved my family to Lousiana and my singular focus was the show. Paradise Lost was different in that it was all-consuming. I was absolutely running on fumes (and caffeine and sugar) but it forced me to make quick decisions, commit and not overthink things, which I have been known to do. After going between three shows at the same time, does your workload on Paradise Lost actually seem easier?īR: When I was bouncing between those three shows was the most madhouse dream factory bonkers time in my life. NP: You were incredibly busy awhile back when you were filming Last Ship, Agent Carter and Jane the Virgin. I am so thankful they trusted me with her. Very luckily Rodes, Arika and the producers liked what I brought in my audition. I immediately connected to Frances, especially the mother in her. Those first two episodes were the most compelling and exciting scripts I had read in a while. Here was this gothic, ethereal and modern portrait of the South that was filled with fully realized characters. I was blown away when I read the first two scripts. It’s crazy when you get exactly what you asked for.
My emotional well of mom-ing was and still is very, very full. I wanted something emotionally demanding, darker in tone and maybe a little twisted. What was it about the show that made you want to sign on for, hopefully, another several season?īridget Regan: After the birth of my son, Barney, I wanted to go back to work on something that would stretch me in a different direction than The Last Ship did.

Paradise Lost is full of mystery and it’s an intriguing experience.Bridget Regan has returned to TV in the Spectrum Originals drama Paradise Lost, and that’s excellent news for television fans everywhere. But overall, there aren’t any bad performances in site. Hartnett is given an interesting character to play and he definitely commands the screen. There’s a lot to unpack in the first hour, and writer Rodes Fishburne sets the stage for what should, hopefully, be resolved as the season progresses. Nicque enlists the help of her sister, Gynnifer ( Gail Bean), to spy for her as Frances’ assistant.
Frances isn’t the only one looking into things, there’s also reporter Nicque Green ( Danielle Deadwyler), who is convinced that her uncle, who was convicted for starting the first is actually innocent. There’s also the mystery of a fire at the motel two decades earlier, in which Boyd was present. The duo have a wild past that may also have involved Yate’s troubled artist sister Janus, who has since passed away. Boyd was friends with Yates and Dickie Barrett ( Shane McRae), who’s now the local sheriff. It is here that the central mystery of Paradise Lost is revealed when Frances becomes drawn into a pair of mysteries, connected by veteran Boyd Suttree ( Silas Weir Mitchell). Joining him is his wife, psychiatrist Frances Forsythe ( Bridget Regan). Paradise Lost tells the story of Yates Forsythe ( Josh Hartnett), who is called back to his family home in Mississippi by his father, Judge Forsythe ( Nick Nolte), to take over as CEO of Southern Trees Media. This week, Paramount+ dropped a new original in the form of Paradise Lost, but is it worth getting lost in?
